MEET THE TEAM: BRETT FORDYCE
After beginning his career in Auditing, Associate Financial Adviser Brett Fordyce made the move to financial planning as he sought a more client-focused role.
Vinnies and RMHC each received $5000 at separate handover ceremonies today to assist charitable activity rolling out to individuals and families in need this festive season throughout Queensland.
Wendy, who is the Principal of the VISIS accounting division, said the donations marked this year’s launch of a month-long Christmas appeal through H4H aiming to raise $50,000 for charities devoted to easing some of the pain of people at this particularly difficult time of year.
“We’re asking people to open their hearts and help those less fortunate,” she said.
“Particularly during the festive season, we want to make sure this time of year for those doing it tough is a little more manageable.”
H4H is a philanthropic fund established by Wendy and Chris to provide better living, education, quality of life and health outcomes for the underprivileged and disadvantaged in Australia and beyond.
Contributions to the Hands for Humanity Foundation generate direct support to over a dozen charities.
Wendy said the H4H Christmas appeal will continue to occur annually, with her and Chris pledging this year to match every dollar donated to the Foundation through December up to $25,000.
Vinnies Qld CEO Kevin Mercer said the organisation was incredibly grateful for the donation from Hands for Humanity.
“As Queensland families continue to struggle with rising costs of living, these funds will allow us to ensure the most vulnerable in our communities can look forward to spending Christmas with a roof over their head and food on the table,” he said.
“The generous support of organisations like the Hands for Humanity Foundation are the reason Vinnies is able to answer the calls for help from hundreds of thousands of Queenslanders each year in their times of need.”
RMHC South East Qld CEO Emma Thompson said the donation as well as volunteering provided by VISIS staff at the organisation’s Herston house were greatly appreciated.
“For families staying at our Ronald McDonald Houses in South East Queensland, the support we receive from the team at VISIS Private Wealth has been so welcome,” she said.
“From making delicious home cooked meals for families to enjoy after a long day at the hospital, to providing generous donations like this one to help keep our doors open, the team know how to make a real difference to families when they need it most.
“Coming so close to Christmas, this amazing donation from Wendy and Chris’s Hands for Humanity Foundation will help us to make the holidays brighter for seriously ill or injured children and their families when they are far from home.”
