TOM CUMMING PROFILE PIECE

Working in a fast-paced industry where every day is different is important for Client Services Officer Tom Cumming and is why he thoroughly enjoys his role at VISIS.

“When the opportunity to join the team came up last year, I jumped at the chance to learn and grow my skills and help clients achieve their goals,” Tom said.

“Prior to kicking off my career in the financial advice industry, I spent six years working in high-end retail as a ready-to-wear fashion manager where I developed a strong passion for customer service.

“My role now combines my passion for client relations with my interest in finance.”

On working with the VISIS team, Tom described it as rewarding and satisfying.

“Being a part of such a great team with a broad range of knowledge and getting exposed to different scenarios is incredibly rewarding. I also find it very satisfying to build relationships with our clients and assist them in achieving their evolving goals over time,” he said.

“It’s been fulfilling seeing the milestones and successes we are able to help our clients achieve and it’s always enjoyable getting to spend my days chatting to clients on the phone or joining in on meetings where I can.”

After graduating from a dual degree in Business Management and Commerce majoring in Finance and Real Estate and Development in 2019, Tom recently began his Graduate Diploma of Financial Planning.

“I enjoy working alongside advisers now as they look at client scenarios and get creative about different alternatives to deliver favourable results – learning what they do encouraged me to further my studies to qualify as an accredited financial adviser,” he said.

After a busy day at the office, Tom clears his head by going out for a run and trying new restaurants.

“I like being active and I love food so it’s a perfect way to finish up my day. I also like to travel home to Rockhampton to see my family whenever possible.”
